Sammanfattning
BACKGROUND – A frequently used conventional radiological classification with four progressing stages of cervical resorption (Class I-IV, ad modum Heithersay) is used in this paper. As the resorptive lesion progresses a poorer prognosis should be expected.
CASE STUDIES – Four cases of cervical resorption with increasing complexity are reported, following the Heithersay classification, where endodontic and surgical treatment principles have been used. For advanced lesions root canal treatments are needed besides treating the resorption.
CONCLUSION – Treatment in general practice should be limited to Class I and II (ad modum Heitersay). Magnification
should be used for Class III and IV (ad modum Heitersay). Elimination of the cavity and removal of the resorptive tissue is essential for a successful outcome. It is recommended that in general the treatments are supported by a CBCT examination. Finally, lesions can occur at different progression rates.
