Sammanfattning
The Östgöta Commissions` mission, to analyze health inequalities in Östergötland
and give suggestions to reduce these, was given by Östsam. This
was a regional federation between the county council and 13 municipalities,
governed by a broad political coalition. Early lessons were the importance of
early implementation and a shared understanding. Interaction and dialogue
were therefore central with close contacts with politicians and officials via
seminars and visits in municipalities and at political meetings. The recommendations
have received a broad political support and are now a basis in
the new Region Östergötland three-year plan. A broad ownership is seen for
these issues. The challenge is to keep the intensity over time. A possibility
lies in being a region, thus embracing all policies.
