There is no doubt that the health of a population is central to its country’s development. Health equity within and between countries is also recognized as
of vital importance to a sustainable development on this planet. Health and well-being has thus inevitably both a direct and indirect impact on all the 17
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as well as being one of the ultimate outcome of the goals.
SDG nr 3 “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages” is the goal directly linked to health and health equity, but by supporting and targeting a social determinant for health like the SDG Goal 4 “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities
for all” a logical step between strategy and action has been taken in promoting and improving health and equity in Region Västra Götaland.
